Kohli gets life term for rape and murder of British teenager

London | Maninderpal Singh Kohli, a 41-year old was found guilty for the rape and murder of 17-year old British teenager Hannah Foster. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by London court.

A 41-year old Kohli and a father of two was tried for snatching Hannah in his van and then strangling her after raping her in Southampton in 2003. Kohli had then fled to his homecountry India after committing the murder. Hannah was walking towards her home after spending a night with friends when she was grabbed by Kohli.

Kohli became a prime suspect when his supervisor saw television appeal in which the route killer had taken was exactly matching with the route that he has shown to Kohli when he was working as a sandwich delivery boy.

In India, Kohli changed his name but was held by the India police and was extradited to Britain in July 2007 for trial. Hannah’s parents and sister was in tears when the judgment was read out in the court.

Maninderpal Singh Kophli became the first person to successfully extradited from India to UK.
