10 Indian labourers die in Dubai fire
Dubai | A massive fire in Dubai’s two-storyed villa killed 10 Indian nationals.
The villa in which about 500 Indian workers were living gutted in fire in early hours of Tuesday (August 26) and 10 labourers burnt to death. Still many of them are missing. In 30-room complex 500 poor labourers mainly from India’s Andhra Pradesh state were fitted to live. At the time of fire mainly all the labourers were sleeping.
Civil defence officials at Dubai said that they rushed to the spot soon after the fire was reported but could not rescue men trapped on the second floor of the building. Eyewittnesses said that they were stunned to see panicked men jumping from the villa with their burning clothes.
International rights organizations have criticized long ago about the worst condition and safety standards of the Indian labourers in Gulf countries.
